It reaffirms its commitment to independent film, new narrative forms, and aesthetic diversity, with screenings held across multiple venues such as the Teatro San Martín, Cine Gaumont, Teatro Presidente Alvear, and Usina del Arte, among others, alongside an accessible program that includes free activities.

Gabriela Ricardes, Minister of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires, and Javier Porta Fouz, Artistic Director of the festival, at the presentation of the 27th edition of BAFICI.
The lineup brings together both established figures and emerging voices in auteur cinema. Notable names include Angela Schanelec, Hong Sang-soo, Nadav Lapid, and Pietro Marcello, along with tributes such as the retrospective dedicated to Pere Portabella. Among the standout films are Yes, The Day She Returns, My Wife Cries, Remake, and Duse, reflecting the festival’s innovative and diverse character.
Argentine cinema will play a central role within the competitions, reinforcing BAFICI as a key platform for local premieres. The opening film will be Orgullo y prejuicio by Matías Szulanski, while the closing selection will be Letras robadas / Power Ballad by John Carney, in an edition that once again positions the festival as a vital space for discovering new perspectives in contemporary cinema.
