The exhibition Lugar de estar: o legado Burle Marx, presented at the MAC/CCB – Museum of Contemporary Art and Center for Architecture in Lisbon, brings together a broad selection of landscape projects developed by Roberto Burle Marx over nearly seventy years. A key figure in Brazilian urbanism, his work in cities such as Brasília and Rio de Janeiro redefined public space through an innovative integration of native flora, driven by his deep botanical knowledge and ecological awareness, which positioned him as a pioneer in environmentally conscious design.

The exhibition traces different axes of his work, from urban space design to his environmental activism, highlighting his departure from traditional geometries in favor of organic forms and a more fluid relationship between nature and the built environment. Through sketches, photographs, and archival materials, the show offers insight into both his creative process and the cultural context in which his projects emerged. It also includes works by six contemporary artists who engage with his legacy, reflecting on his influence on contemporary architecture and urbanism. The exhibition can be visited until April 5, 2026, in Lisbon.
