The city of London once again established itself as a leader in the global art market after generating more than £419 million in auctions in March 2026, with an 87 percent sell-through rate. The auction houses Christie’s and Sotheby’s dominated the market, accounting for the majority of sales and the highest prices.

Among the standout works were pieces by Henry Moore, Francis Bacon, and Wassily Kandinsky, confirming strong demand for established 20th-century artists. Interest also remained steady for figures such as Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, and Gerhard Richter.

This strong performance reflects a stable market that prioritizes works with proven track records, reinforcing London’s position as one of the leading art centers worldwide.
